What causes stretch marks?
Stretch marks are caused when an individual’s skin is stretched too quickly.
They are most common around the stomach area, breasts, thighs and hips. Both men and woman can suffer from them and they affect the majority of the adult population.
This stretching occurs when the body grows at a rate that the skin cannot keep up with. Stretch marks are most commonly associated with pregnancy but are also a normal part of puberty: Body building or quick weight gain can also result in stretch marks. But what can remove stretch marks?
Stretch Mark Removal
There are several methods of removing / reducing problem stretch marks. These vary widely in both cost and effectiveness. They range from simple solutions such as creams and lotions, up to more extreme and expensive methods such as laser surgery.
For many people, stretch marks are a source of embarrassment and can make people feel very self conscious, but this can be overcome or greatly reduced by treatment to remove stretch marks.
Creams and oils promote the chemical healing process within our bodies by boosting the vitamins, minerals and other necessary elements needed for healing. Surgery on the other hand promotes the physical healing process of the body, which forces the skin to create those healing elements (such as collagen) itself.
Combining these processes, using techniques such as micro-needling, often proves the most effective method (both in terms of cost and results) for many individuals. It is important that anyone looking for a solution, understands the pros and cons of their chosen stretch mark removal method.
Skin Needling is also known as Facial Mesotherapy or Collagen Induction Therapy. It has similar results to Laser treatment, Chemical Peels and Dermabrasion but is far less invasive. This translates to a significant decrease and lower risk of complications, improving recovery time.
What is the Scientia Derma Roller?

This microneedling or skin needling device goes by several different brand names but my favorite is the Scientia Derma roller which is one of the hottest natural remedies for removing acne scars and wrinkles, and to remove stretch marks.
Scientific and clinical findings have proven it is effective for anti aging, anti-acne, and skin rejuvenation. There is also clear evidence showing a change in the skin’s cell stimulation if the Dermaroller is used regularly (up to 4 times per week).
How Does the Scientia Derma Roller Work?
As you roll the skin roller over your skin, it creates pin point punctures into the dermis the majority of which are simply pushing your pores open temporarily. This is perceived by the body as damage, which stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen and elastin. The human body reacts to any injury by initiating the healing process, but usually it will only heal as far as it must to keep you healthy which is different to healing to a cosmetic level. By persistently triggering the healing process, you encourage your body to continue healing until the job is finished.
In addition, it allows maximum absorption of your best wrinkle creams or any anti aging creams. Each rolling session stimulate collagen to reduce wrinkles and scars – like a mini-instant face lift. Even the best anti aging creams alone can’t come close to the benefits of the roller.
There are many skin rollers on the market and with different needle length — so it’s important to chose the right one. Dermatologists, clinics, and spas use different types of rollers with different needle lengths ranging from 0.75mm to 2mm, depending on what you’re trying to accomplish. However, needles of this length is best used by a skin care professional.
For Home Use you need to make sure that the skin roller you use is specifically made for personal use. It should be made of surgical grade steel and gamma sterilized for optimum results and safety. There are plenty of skin rollers out there but I only use and recommend the Scientia Roller.
